Frederick Road Veterinary Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant who can help us continue to provide exceptional patient care and client service for our loyal family of clients.
Competitive candidates will have a minimum of 6 months experience in a veterinary hospital setting along with a bright, personable can-do attitude with a willingness to learn and a focus on teamwork.
Schedule: Full-time schedule is four days a week, hours are 7:45am-5pm. Specific days are somewhat flexible at this time. Hospital is open Monday-Friday only and offers lunch hour between 12pm-1pm.

Job Description Overview:
·Assist with patient care and treatment
·Monitor hospitalized pets / Monitor/aid in caring for animals after surgery
·Maintain inventory and stocking
·Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims
·Aid in routine diagnostic tests (i.e. taking radiographs, running bloodwork, prepping ear cytology)
·Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment
·Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas of hospital
·Administer medications and vaccinations under Veterinarian supervision
·Cross-train in reception
·Participate in quarterly hospital inventory counts
·Exceptional Customer service
·Potential for growth to train in dental and surgical procedures
Qualifications:
·Must be 18yrs old or older
·Must be a self-starter, able to multitask and a team player.
·Must become Fear Free Certified within first year of employment
·Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to work with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
·6 months of experience in veterinary hospital setting.
·Ability to meet the physical demands of the job:
oWork requires lifting, carrying and restraining animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs.).
oAble to lift 40lbs on own.
oWalk or stand for extended periods or time; frequently work in a bent or squatting position.
·Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members.
